Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she has made 53 deals on the show, the largest one being $350,000 in 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother, was an exemplary homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented employee throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family often depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocer. Corcoran recalls that her father was an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a troubled student throughout school. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic primary school within her community and started high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood.
